Stacey and Max at WayOutside have adapted their Tyndrum 24 event for social distancing, offer feet and wheels options and spread it over a week to give you more options. So if you must run in the dark, you can!
I was part of the Rescue Medics team covering the first running up Tyndrum in January but this time I am going to be taking part and aiming for the 24 hours but not all in one go.

The WayOutside team do much more than running events and contribute a lot to their local community in the West Highlands and put a lot of effort into programmes getting people of all ages involved in a range of physical activity, such as Sofa 2 Summit. From working the first event, they are well-known and regarded in the ultra-community too. One of the objectives of the Virtual Tyndrum 24 is to raise money towards research on cancers of the liver in memory of their friend and fellow ultra-runner Mark Thornberry.
As part of the event, there is also a photo competition with three themes: Fire, water and night-time.
Stacey came out of the water long enough to send me a guest post for the site and I’ll be posting more on the event in August. I know some fellow Carnethies took part in January and I hope to see some of you ‘on the route’, or more likely on Strava!
From Stacey
Could you take on 6, 12 or 24 hours of running, walking or cycling in 1 week?! The Virtual Tyndrum 24 takes place between midday Saturday 1st August and midday Saturday 8th August and would love to have you join us for the challenge! Further to seeing how many miles you can cover, in the spirit of the Tyndrum 24 race each competitor is challenged to photo competition.

The Virtual T24 is a Scottish Athletics licensed event no. 11499. Please follow Government guidance regarding social distancing when carrying out all activities for the dates of the event in the area you are taking part.

The Virtual T24 is raising in memory of our friend and fellow ultra-runner Mark Thornberry who passed away on the 14th June this year. Mark had been raising money by running and organising ultra marathons while undergoing cancer treatment to fund life saving liver cancer research. We have kept the cost of the event to a minimal as we would like to ask those who can to donate to his charity when signing up for the race. You can also donate here and read Mark’s story.
